How long does a lesson last? A typical class lasts about 60 minutes.
- 15 minutes warm-up:
Warm up includes aerobic exercise, strength training and stretching. It is designed to prepare the body for the exercises that will follow. - 40 minutes main lesson:
A pole dancing lesson includes a variety of moves, such as climbing and dancing figures on the pole or on the floor. Pole instructor will first show you the movement, then he or she will explain it to you and help you to put it through.
- Choreography:
Once you have learned the basic techniques, you will be able to learn a choreography by combining all the movements into one single result. In a choreography, other than force, technique, grace and flow are required. Through a choreography you will improve both your stamina and the quality of your movement.
- Freestyle dance:
In a freestyle dance, you don’t need to follow specific steps as you would do in a choreography. It is based on the emotions and inspiration of each person. Freestyle will make you find out what your abilities are.
- Floorwork:
Floorwork is used as a means of smooth transition to and from the pole. It gives the dancer the chance to rest for a while.
- 5 minutes recovery:
At the end of the lesson, pole students should get a recovery which includes stretching and breathing to bring the heart rate back to normal.
